Being part of a big family means plenty of family members around all the time and probably double the amount of fun as well I’m sure. If you live in a multi-story home, there may be times you wish you could just send something up or downstairs easily, instead of hauling it yourself up and down the stairs. A good example of this might be groceries or laundry. Or you might have an elder family member that lives upstairs that needs things brought to them, or if they are capable themselves of going up and down stairs but may have trouble carrying things on the stairs. A dumbwaiter would be an excellent solution and is a mini-lift that installs right in the home, wherever you need it, and can be as discreet as you want it. Dumbwaiters are both very safe and very convenient, using cable drive technology.

dw.jpgYou can have a single dumbwaiter installed to take care of what you need, or you can have separate dumbwaiters that go to different areas of the house. If you have a 3 story house for example, and your garage is part of the basement, as well as your washing machine, you can have a dumbwaiter installed that runs from the basement to the kitchen if your floor plan allows it, and also a dumbwaiter that is installed by the washing machine that runs up to a bedroom perhaps. You could also have a central dumbwaiter that runs from the bottom and stops at all floors of your home. Having a dumbwaiter installed in these configurations will save you a lot of time and the trouble of doing a lot of hauling up and down the stairs.

Having a dumbwaiter in the kitchen can serve multiple purposes. You can host a party in the terrace, and send food or drinks up through the lift. Since dumbwaiters are fairly easy to install and require little to no maintenance, they are very convenient and are also easy to use. All a dumbwaiter needs are long 18+ feet long metal shafts and a lift car that is connected to a pulley system. Most dumbwaiters come complete and some are even pre-wired to take any wiring confusion or problems out of the picture. The doors on the dumbwaiter can come in two varieties. One will be where you can open and close the door yourself that swings outward either to the left or right. The other type of door will be one that slides open on its own.

Dumbwaiters and their design are fully customizable on where you want them placed, how many floors the dumbwaiter will have to go up and down and how many stops you want the dumbwaiter to have. In some cases you can also choose how large you want the lift car to be that travels the shafts. Since dumbwaiters are small and compact, they look sleek and can add to your homes décor, matching the color and designs that you already use around the house.
