If you are a home builder than you are always looking for that little something extra you can do to make your home standout. A dumbwaiter may be that little something.
Dumbwaiters are mini-freight elevators that are used to carry household goods between floors. They typically support around 100 pounds and are powered by regular household current. They can be configured to stop at multiple floors and their doors can open on different sides on each floor. A set of call buttons on each floor is used to move the device, and a quality dumbwaiter has special locking doors that only open when the unit is present.
The installation of a dumbwaiter is fairly straight forward and when built into a house the process is very simple. It is necessary to have a straight shaft between floors that is around 2 foot by 2 foot. If you are installing the dumbwaiter into a home as you build it, you can easily avoid possible complications that plumbing pipes and electrical wires can cause.
The convenience added by a dumbwaiter that for instance connects the laundry room, kitchen, and upstairs is not missed by a prospective home buyer. It is definitely something that will set your home apart from the others and helps the prospective buyer to remember your home.
